While we wait for the real spring to come out by kayak, today we talk about the Sevylor Adventure. As in the case of Colorado and Colorado Premium , here too we have a two-seater inflatable kayak , indicated above all for rides in calm or shallow waters.
The Sevylor Adventure has 2 versions: the standard and the Plus version . The standard version is available in two variants: the first includes only the kayak, while the second includes a real kit.
Compared to the Sevylor inflatable kayak models we have already reviewed, the Adventure is lighter and more compact. When closed, the kayak has a size of 61 x 20 x 48, and from swollen it only weighs 12 kilos to over 3 meters in length, so instead of dragging it on the sand – which is always a risk in the case of inflatable kayaks – or transport it along with a mate you can easily load it on your shoulder and put it in the water.
Consider that the maximum range of this model is 165 kilos – enough for two normal-weight adults. In the package of the Kayak Sevylor Adventure, you will find:
- the kayak
- a transport bag
- a pressure gauge
- a removable fin
- a small repair kit
- the seats
- the instruction manual
For those who love instruction manuals, and cannot use a new product without first reading them. We suggest, instead, to watch the official video made by Sevylor , where you can find all the explanations on how to inflate the kayak
It is really an easy procedure. As usual, insert the fin on the bottom of the kayak by sliding it into the guides until you hear a sharp click. The fin is made of very sturdy plastic, but it is good practice to use some delicacy during assembly to prevent it from bending or breaking.
The Kayak Sevylor Adventure has three inner tubes that are inside or a polyester hull. Simply open the zip, maybe arrange them a little if they are folded before the first use, and inflated in the order shown on the internal label. The pressure you need to reach is 0.1 bar.
Our advice is to use a foot-operated inflator instead of another type, to avoid damaging the air chambers. The Adventure also has a Boston valve, which must be screwed before the first use of the kayak. Then you just have to open it and close it with a gesture only before inserting the inflator valve.
After inflating the kayak, take a look at the pressure to verify that it has reached the recommended level, and then fix the seats in the position you prefer. As soon as you get on the kayak, you notice a series of small but useful details such as: a carrying handle, which is not essential since the Adventure is light as a feather, but is always comfortable integrated splash guards with elastic cords, great for slipping into a water bottle or other small objects inner rings to fix the essential for navigation – maybe a hat for the sunniest days, or even a GPS the drain plug, which is always a must but you don’t always find
The Adventure has a really affordable price, and is ideal for those – more or less experienced kayakers – who want to have fun navigating in lakes, rivers or even at sea. But there are some things you need to consider if you are thinking about this model.
All inflatable kayaks, although they are made of sturdy materials, are not suitable for navigation near rocks or along rocky coasts. Unlike rigid kayaks, the inflatable kayak on the rocks is cut. It’s a fact. Also consider that the closer you are to the rocks the more kayaking is difficult to control, especially if you are a beginner. This is a necessary premise
this model of kayak is not equipped with paddles. If you don’t already have a pair, you’d better buy them separately, or even take a look at the Sevylor Adventure Kit
For the rest, we have a kayak that is very easy to maneuver, and especially comfortable for those who are tall and usually have difficulty stretching their legs well.
The Sevylor Adventure Kit version
This version is in all respects the same as the ‘standard’ version so to speak. In addition, it has:
- an inflator
- 2 KC Compact 215 paddles
The price difference between this version and the previous one is in the order of thirty euros. All in all, this is the average price for two good quality paddles and a discreet inflator.
We recommend this version to those who have to buy their first kayak, and therefore do not have accessories. Those who have to change it, or take a second one, most likely already have some old paddles in the garage, so they can move towards the ‘normal’ version.
The Sevylor Adventure Plus
If you’re wondering what sense the Plus version of the Adventure has, the answer is soon given: it is a three-seater kayak with adjustable backrest seats. With its 15 kilos of weight for 3.73 meters of length, and 90 cm of width it is light and manageable.
So, three places does not mean that you have to use it in three. In fact, during assembly it is possible to insert only one or two seats. But for those who want to go out in trio, or even for a family with a child, this is the ideal choice.
Please note that most of the kayaks in circulation are two-seater. Since these are boats that in any case exceed three meters in length, it is always possible to insert an extra seat, tighten it, and also bring the child or a friend. But often it is uncomfortable, precisely because these are models designed for two.
Here the case is different because we have a boat designed for three people. We know that this is a model that is not too popular – releases in three are usually an exception. But we decided to talk about it anyway to meet everyone’s needs.
Sevylor Adventure Kit canoe comes with unique performance and it’s safe for learners. Moreover, it is ideal for river trips, fishing, swimming in lakes and short sea trips. Easy-to-empty hull, comfortable seats. Sturdy exterior coverage and comfortable handling thanks to comfortable handles.
However, it’s a bit expensive compared to other models we have reviewed in this post, but still accessible. The price difference is justified by the larger dimensions of this boat. Those who prefer to save money, or go out in a kayak from time to time, can easily choose the ‘standard’ version, where perhaps it is in a bit tighter but still comfortable.
