General Description

Here is your chance to own a great yacht to experience the Great Loop and extensive coastal cruising.

Currently in Florida after having spent most of her life in the fresh waters of the Great Lakes, this unique sedan style sports cruiser is part of the Defever Performance Off Shore Cruiser (POC) series which includes the 47 aft cabin, and the very popular 51 and 53 POC models. The boats in the POC series were built in the Sen Kohn yard, the same yard where many of the very popular Defever 49 Raised Pilot House models were built.

This 46 Defever's semi-displacement hull is one of the more contemporary looking styles to come from the trend setting designs of renowned naval architect Arthur Defever. This stylish, versatile design makes the POC 46 one of the most roomy and comfortable yachts available in this size range. Interior teak paneling, vinyl wall covering and teak and holly floors give a spacious, contemporary, open and airy feeling.

The current owner loved her especially due to the 6'6" headroom throughout and has spent extended times on her while traveling the Loop and in the Bahamas.

If you are looking for a very solid, modern crusing yacht, make sure not to miss this one!!

Description and accommodations

The extra large aft cockpit (9'x 14') is accessed through the double sliding doors from the saloon which makes it feel like an extension of the saloon. This roomy cockpit has accommodated up to eight people for sundowners on many occasions. There is a transom door access to the swim platform. The airy and bright salon has built in seating on the starboard side with a convertible table for dining.

While living aboard or during extended cruises you will find on the port side two comfortable leather wall-away recliners to relax in during those peaceful and relaxing nights aboard.

The second open stateroom, second head and galley are located directly forward of the saloon. The galley is equipped with a three burner electric stove with oven, large double door refrigerator/freezer, double stainless steel sinks, and counter top microwave with adequate cabinets and drawers.

The smaller stateroom opposite the galley has twin beds with storage under the beds and a separate hanging locker. The second head can be accessed directly from this stateroom.

The front master stateroom with a queen sized berth and spacious head with separate large shower make this style of Defever a very comfortable “Big Mans" boat. The master has two portholes and a large hatch. At 6'6" tall the current owner has found this to be a very comfortable cruiser over the last nine years, having sometimes spent up to eight months per year cruising and living aboard.

Below decks can be found a very roomy engine room and an extremely large rear lazzarette for storing all of your extra gear and all of the provisions needed for an extended cruise.

The roomy fly bridge has a raised captain's chair for comfort at the helm with built in seating for three additional people. This area can be fully enclosed with bimini and side curtains. There is also an upper deck which is large enough for two to share evening cocktails or comfortable enough for sunning while under way.

Exceptionally wide side decks both port and starboard lead to the foredeck, making for very safe and convenient handling of lines and fenders.

Having cruised throughout the Great Lakes, the Great Loop and three extended cruises to the Bahamas, this 46 Defever has proven to be a very economical cruiser. At 1200 to 1300 RPM's the Cat engines will cruise the boat at a very efficient 8 knots using just over 4 GPH combined.

The 8 KW Onan generator, which is housed in a sound shield, consumes less than ½ gallon per hour on average and meets all of the AC needs while away from shore power. The 2500W inverter and 660 amp hour house bank handle the AC needs at anchor or under way alleviating the need to run the gen set.

Brokers Comments
This is a beautiful example of a "fast trawler" that is also economical, cruising at 1200 to 1300 RPM's, the Cats will move her along at 8 knots while using just over 4 GPH combined. And if you are TALL, this is a boat you should look at and walk thru..... Exclusions:
Dingy
