General Description

The Sun Odyssey 45 is a beautiful, fast, performance cruiser by Jeanneau. This one is a "one owner" boat, and equipped for serious cruising. Many Jeanneau 45s are sold for charter. Seldom do you find one purchased, equipped and being cruised privately by her original owner. The Jeanneau 45s are well designed, well built, fast, easily handled, (even by a short-handed crew) and very responsive and maneuverable. She has a deep fin keel with a bulb. Displacement is a healthy 20,570 lbs. Ballast is 7,100 lbs. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45s come in two, three and four cabin arrangements. This one is the comfortable three cabin, two head version.

She comes with several significant pluses over other Jeanneau 45s. She has an oversized 75 HP Yanmar diesel with very low (1000) engine hours at last check. She has a "tall rig" (plus 1.2 meters), for improved performance, especially upwind. And she is staysail equipped, a rare but a very welcome addition to an offshore performance cruiser. Both headsail and staysail are on Profurl roller furlers. All sheets & halyards from the two headsails and the mast are lead thru turning blocks and lead aft to the cockpit. The twin helms, (port & starboard, with instruments at each), are also a welcome design feature. The twin helms give you flexibility in helm position, an unobstructed cockpit, and an unobstructed walk-thru to the stern swim platform. She sports hydraulic backstay tensioning. She also has abundant storage in truely cavernous lockers inside and out, including a very large sail locker and gear locker forward! Being able to store sails and deck gear totally separate from the living quarters. Her two refrigeration and freezer compartments are also very large and capable of handling lots of provisions for extended passages.

Other very desireable pluses we can't fail to mention, include: a Fisher 4 kw generator, with very low (500) hours), two reverse cycle heat & air-conditioning units, five batteries, a three blade feathering Max-Prop, a spinnaker pole, full batten main with Harken track & bearing bat-cars, a robust Harken traveler, a Lewmar 48, electric winch on the cabintop, 2kw radar, chart plotter, LED nav & anchor lights, nav instruments with repeaters, (both helms & navigation desk), auto-pilot, inverter, electric flush head and a 17" flat screen TV. If you are looking for a serious performance cruiser in this price and size range you should see this boat. She is located in Miami, FL

Main Salon & Galley
The centerpiece of the main salon is the hugh wrap around settee, with seating on all four sides of the center table. The settee is very spacious, welcoming, and designed for handling many guests and entertaining. The cushions and upholstery are very comfortable and a deep teal in color. The settee is convertible and can make into a fouth double berth, bringing the sleeping accomodations of the vessel up to eight people. Or it can be folderd down for easier access in the settee area. Headroom in the salon and galley is very good at 6 ft 5".

Next to catch ones eye is the elongated galley, to port, spanning the entire for and aft length of the main salon. This provides for lots of counter space, and three people can easily work the galley. The layout is efficient with separate, top access refrigerator and freezer compartments both of which are very deep. No problem handling provisions here. In the center of the galley is three burner propane stove, and to the right two large deep double stainless steel sinks with tall swivel faucet. Freezer and refrigerator are large separate Frigoboat 12 volt units with top access, and the refrigerator also has side access. Refrigerator and freezer have separate compressors and are water cooled for excellent efficiency. The galley has plenty of storage, hot and cold pressure water, plus seawater/fresh water foot pumps, etc.

Last but certainly not least is the serious and comfortable "L" shaped navigation console, with wrap around instrumentation displays and a good 50% more work space than most navigation desks provide. Any navigator will enjoy this work area. The main salon and galley are very well lighted with four large windows, running fore and aft, two to port and two to starboard, which let copious amounts of daylight into the main salon & galley. The salon has a good 6 ft 5" of headroom. The cabin sole is bright teak & holly with a warm hint of rose color which shines like new. Beautiful teak joinery cabinetry and storage compartments abound all around the salon and galley.

Three staterooms & two heads
The Jeanneau 45 is available in three stateroom configutations. This one is the popular three stateroom version, owner's cabin, withy ensuite head & shower forward and two guest cabins and a second head & shower aft. The forward master stateroom features a comfortable centerline double sized berth, with walk ways and generous shelving on each side, and plenty of light from four overhead hatches and two ports. There is even an either or work and reading desk or makeup table complete with mirror, drawer and comfortable upholstered swivel seat. Of course there are hanging locker and storage compartments, port, to starboard and under the berth. The forward cabin has a good 6' 3" of headroom, and like the main salon the cabin sole is bright teak & holly with a warm hint of rose color which shines like new. The head is electric flush. The cabin has several ceiling lights and reading lights around the berth.

The two aft guest cabins, port and starboard are mirror images of each other, with double berths in each, a hanging locker and storage cabinets. The two guest cabins have standing room as you enter and reduced headroom further aft due to the cockpit. But each has plenty of room for tw, for sleeping, and plenty of light and storage. Each cabin also has several ceiling and reading lights.

Navigation & Electronics
The Jeanneau 45 sports a very nice "L" shaped navigation console, with wrap around instrumentation displays and a 50% more work space than conventional navigation desks provide. The navigator will really enjoy this work space. The chart table has a lifting top and generous inner compartment. The navigator's seat is contoured for comfort and security underway. The instrument panels wrap around the console giving the navigator a straight on view of all instruments as well as having them all within easy reach. The boat has multiple chart plotters and displays. There is a Garmin 20120C at the starboard helm interfaced to the boats instruments, a slave Garmin display at the port helm. And there is a separate Raymarine RL-70 chart plotter at the Nav station below, also interfaced to the boats instruments. And the output of the plotters can be directed to and displayed on the 17" flat screen television which can be easily watched from anywhere in the salon, galley or navigation area.
