General Description

Designed by Sparkman & Stephens the Swan 65 needs little introduction as one of the iconic ocean racing designs of the 70 s. After successfully competing in and winning the Whitbread Round the World race in 1977 the Swan 65 has been one of Swans most popular models, and with good reason.
Antigua VII is a excellent example of a yacht that has been owned and maintained to a very high standard by a proud owner. Over the years she has been improved to make her easy to sail shorthanded by a couple. In 1986 she was fitted with a new mast with an in mast Reckman furling mainsail system which along with the genoa furler and primary winches are all hydraulic, operated by push button controls in the cockpit. As well with two auto pilots systems and the mizzen sail that is a manual boom furler she really is a piece of cake to sail despite being a 65 ketch, and fast too! Another improvement the owner made was to convert the third fwd head into a laundry area equipped with washing machine and installed a 190l/hr watermaker as well. The fwd V berth has also been temporarily used as a workshop and storage area which is quite common for this design unless you are using her for charter which this boat has never done. The sturdy Perkins HP354 diesel was totally rebuilt in 1986 and doesn't miss a beat. The teak interior woodwork is in excellent condition throughout the boat and once again is a credit to the owner and his efforts over the years.

In short this boat has been very well looked after to Swan standards since new and it will appeal to those wishing to do some serious cruising for a couple or family with the piece of mind that only a Swan can offer.
