General Description

The J/130 is truly a multi-purpose boat that can offer podium performances down at the local yacht club whilst being very easy to handle shorthanded offering enjoyable cruising with friends or family. In fact it has been written that the J/130 would be best for intense club racing, shorthanded sailing, and coastal cruising.
One of the first things you notice about this yacht is the boats clean, functional, and user-friendly cockpit and un-cluttered deck, along with the very seemingly simple sailing controls. Normally on a performance boat you would expect to see rows of piano keys and overall confusing array of control lines in the cockpit however Jigonda having the asymmetrical spinnaker flown from the retractable bowsprit providing easy downwind sailing with all halyards led to the cockpit makes for a very simple user friendly set up.

The Hallspars triple-spreader near masthead fractional rig was replaced with new in 1998 along with all new rod rigging. The hull/deck structure is exceptionally light thanks to high-quality balsa-cored laminates produced by state-of-the-art resin-infusion molding technology. Down below she has a three cabin one head with the aft-galley L shaped galley to strb layout, settee in the main cabin, and a double quarter berth to port with two hinged cot berths in the starboard quarter. The galley features big double sinks, cold pressure water, a 2 burner stove with oven, and generous stowage. The head -offers hot shower and easy maintenance, including easy access to all plumbing. There is a generous nav station to port with VHF, SSB radios and Auto pilot which will require some attention after purchase but the Furono GPS is working fine.

The sail wardrobe includes a full set of Kevlar sails that were new in 2005 and have done two regattas since. In total she comes with 15 sails with the latest Kevlar set purchased in. Overall the condition of the boat reflects the current owner's high standards and is a product of always having professionals manage his investment. The boat has a current IRC certificate as well as all the safety equipment required for Cat 1 offshore sailing whilst some items may need servicing.
