General Description

BRISTOL 27 FOR SALE / BRISTOL-27 WEEKENDER FOR SALE

http://www.millenicom.com/users/rcsails/ (LINK TO "MARMARA II" COMPLETE DETAILS WITH LINK TO MORE PHOTOS)

This 27-foot, full keel, tiller-steered, pocket coastal-cruising sloop was designed in 1965 by reknowned naval architect Carl Alberg for Clinton Pearson and his then newly-formed Bristol Yacht Company. Offered in three different versions (Cruising, Dinette, Weekender), the 27 was among Bristol's first models. As is typical of Carl Alberg's seaworthy designs, the Bristol-27 is heavily built. A fairly high ballast to displacement ratio ensures stability and the cutaway forefoot aids in maneuverability. The Bristol-27 was very popular, with over 300 being constructed in one three year period. Production ran from 1965 to 1978 with between 337 and 400 being built.

The Weekender model, has the same hull, rig and sailing capabilities as the Cruising and Dinette models. It differs from the other two models primarily in that the cockpit was lengthened to 8' 5" (with a corresponding reduction in cabin length), the cabinhouse top is flat (the Cruising and Dinette models have a doghouse) and the toilet is located in an enclosure between the V-berths rather than in its own compartment. Belowdecks, Weekender amenities include roomy berths for 4 (split between main and forward cabins), marine head, loads of storage space, natural light and 5' 10" headroom. Beautiful satin-finish varnished bulkheads and trim add to the feeling of warmth below.

In addition to the above, “Marmara II" also has a unique custom-built galley (possibly factory-installed) including draining sink, manual freshwater handpump, 2-burner alcohol stove and galley storage lockers. The current owner had a manual bilge pump, stern pulpit and roller furling installed, replaced the outboard engine and all cushion covers and built teak cockpit grates.

“Marmara II" has given her owner enjoyable decades of service, but due to medical reasons she has been out of the water the last two seasons. We are anxious to find her a new home and new life.
