General Description

This Mason 53 has all the ingredients for not being on our listings for too long. A keen vendor, a realistic selling price, a vessel that has been refitted with many new pieces of expensive inventory and the adaptability of being a very comfortable private yacht or lending itself to 7 guests in comfort for perhaps a charter configuration is the reason why. Also of note with this yacht is that she spent seven years on the hard stand and then underwent an extensive refit in 2006 where most of her systems were replaced or upgraded.

This Mason Cutter has extremely good pedigree coming from the Ta Shin shipyard in Taiwan where some of the most robust and world renowned yachts are built, namely Nordhaven and Tayana and of course the blue water cruisers , Mason Yachts.

With an LOA of 55 feet this Ketch Rigged, full keeled aft cockpit model has been set up for serious ocean crossings for two. Her in boom furling and dual electric halyard and line winches make setting sail and getting under way very simple indeed . The excellent presentation is not surprising because in 2006 she had a complete repaint. Many Masons have teak decks but this particular vessel is painted with non skid which is very practical, cool under foot and does not leave you wondering what is happening underneath the teak.

The new Perkins 4236 90HP main engine will push the vessel along at a maximum speed of 9 knots and the new 7 KVA Northern lights genset will power the many luxurious pieces of equipment on board which includes air-conditioning and a separate washer and dryer. Solar panels, 6000 watt inverter coupled with over 1500 AMP hours of battery power also allow not having to start any engines for power for when serenity is essential. The electronics package is great and includes a chart plotter, radar ,autopilot ,sounder, wind speed indicator and wind instruments with the autopilot only being six-months new. You will be hard pressed run out of water with 1200 L on board and a massive 1000 litre fuel tank which allows at least 1000 nautical miles of range under motor. Down below is a stunning teak fit out which today s production yachts would never have due to the simple consideration of additional expense. The U shape galley is very sea kindly and has enormous refrigeration which is accessed from the top and front with a separate large deep freezer compartment . The upholstery, inner cushions and mattresses have all been replaced. The saloon table has seating for 6 and to starboard a long settee also converts to a sea berth. Four separate cabins are also luxuriously fitted out in teak and the three separate companionways on board allows for privacy when accessing the different cabin areas of the boat. A big plus when there are many guests aboard.
