General Description

Encore, a Beneteau First 45f5 is a proven world cruiser having completed a family circumnavigation before returning to the Great Lakes. The tall rig version with wing keel provides great performance (she won nearly all the Pacific legs of the Expo 98 Round the World Rally) while the three cabin layout makes for comfortable family cruising and living aboard.

Well equipped for offshore cruising, with B&G instruments and autopilot, 2 spinnakers, staysail, storm jib and storm trysail. An electric winch handles all halyards and reefing. Electric windlass and all chain ground tackle for blue water cruising. Two additional fuel tanks have been built in for extended range with an electric fuel transfer system and extra filtering. The 3-blade feathering MaxProp optimizes performance under power and sail.

New mainsail, exterior canvas and cockpit cushions in 2005. Over 600Ah of AGM batteries (2x4D's new in 2007) for the house banks plus an oversize alternator for faster charging. The 3 stage battery charger accepts all world voltages.

The standard refrigeration was replaced with a water cooled 12V system with two holding plates for use in the tropics.

Professionally maintained and never chartered, Encore is ready for many more years of Great Lakes or world voyaging.
