General Description

Long a popular and good-selling boat for Bayliner, the 3888 Motor Yacht is generally recognized as a good value for those seeking a comfortable family cruiser at an affordable price. (Note the 3870 model designation was changed to 3888 iin 1989. Although not a motor yacht in the accepted sense of the word, she is a roomy flybridge sedan with plenty of room. The cockpit is large enough for a couple of deck chairs, and there's seating for three on the bridge. Early
models were powered with twin 135-hp Mitsubishi 6-cylinder diesels, but these engines were dropped in 1986 in favor of U.S. Marine 175-hp diesels-an update that boosted the cruising speed from 14 to 17 knots. A pair of twin 200-hp diesels cruise around 18+.knots. Fuel consumption at cruising speeds is a startling 14-15 gph, which makes the 3888 MY an extremely fuel-efficient boat. A very successful model, about a thousand were built during her production years.
