General Description

Lee Marine are very proud to represent a yacht that is truly worthy of investigation for those buyers that appreciated quality in construction and practicality in design.
The Mason 48 is a one off build by New Zealand Super Yacht yard Thackwray Yachts. The one of a kind steel Mason 48 was derived by instructions from the original owner to build in steel rather than the timber construction initially intended for this Mason 48. The result is beautiful. The full keeled hull is faired in entirety and it is difficult to tell exactly what the boat is constructed from until inspected closely.

On deck is a generous cockpit laid in teak that is partially protected by an integral hard dodger with a small switch panel for navigation lights and other regularly used switches. Wide walk around uncluttered decks with well placed hand holds are great for navigating around the yacht. Twin companionways allow access to two important parts of the vessel for short handed sailing. The deck entrance giving fast access to the navigation table and instruments. The aft companionway being next to the double berth aft very close to the helm.

The cutter rig and comprehensive sail inventory will see the new owner not wanting for additional sails. This vessel carries in total including a spinnaker 5000 square feet of sail area.

It should not be understated the quality of equipment on board. This also includes comprehensive inventory of spares in duplicate that includes autopilots. This Mason has just been sailed 3000 nm singled handed with only a light bulb replaced on route.

The Perkins 85hp engine is a straight horizontal shaft which gives maximum efficiency and thrust. Also as part of the drive unit is a thrust plate which limits wear on the gear box and associated bearings. The main engine also acts as the genset having a shaft off the front end or PTO (power take off) to power a 6.5 KVA alternator and eutectic refrigeration. There is no side load on the engine due to the ingenious shaft and belt drive units.

Down below is stunning Mahogany obviously crafted by true tradesmen. The spring loaded doors are easy to open and close and the dove tail joints in the fully lined draws are visible evidence of true craftsmanship. The refrigeration is a partial front opening and rather than the single or double common plate it is fully encapsulated cold plate. Perfect for a hot tropical climate.

Accommodation is ample having an aft double and fwd double. The saloon seating also being adaptable to a sea berth. Head room will please even the tallest Scandinavian. A single shower and head is generous,they are also separate entities.

The large saloon is air conditioned and the bench space in the galley is a chefs delight.

Great electronics, water maker, flat screen television and entertainment system are some of the numerous high quality items on the this vessels.
