General Description

When Charles Morgan designed the Tiger Cub sailboat in the early sixties, little did he know he'd be designing a “Limited Edition" classic? Only a few were built, and there are still a few scattered around the United States, owned by people who will not part with them. There is only one in Florida. Henry DeMaesschalck worked for Charles Morgan building the Tiger Cub sailboats, and this one was built for his personal use. She was launched in 1966, and Henry sailed her nearly every day for over 35-years, until he was stricken with a severe illness. Henry couldn't bear to part with his beloved Tiger Cub, so she stayed at her mooring, neglected for a few years. A life-long friend of Henry's and lover of the Tiger Cub also owned one (hull #2 in 1962). The men raced her in the Fora Series, and she quickly became the boat of the year, after winning the yearly racing championship. Henry's friend later purchased his boat from him, with Henry's knowledge that his friend would put her back into the kind of condition he would be proud of. She needed a lot of work, including $28,000 worth of materials, and a "new" diesel engine - she's now a sailing dream; however, like Henry, her current owner is getting up there in age, has an illness, and it's time to find someone to watch over this beloved Tiger Cub. If you are interested, and promise to take good care of her, she is for sale. Her owner says, “She is like a pretty lady, one look at her, and you'll fall in love". For further information on her refurbishments, please check-out our “Full Specs" section, or give us a call for more details or an appointment to view this amazing classic.
