General Description

A recent refit of this classic timber yacht has seen her near to her former glory.This robust cutter was built in Mombassa Kenya to a British design for a local gold miner.

The current owner sailed her on her maiden voyage in 1957 and then found her again in 1994 when he bought her. He has since sold her to the 3rd owner who has lovingly bought her back to a terrific timber cutter rigged sloop.

The new sails are tan coloured. Roller Yankee fore sail, fixed Yankee fore sail, storm jib, 1 staysail , 1 main sail ,1 radial drifter and a cruising spinnaker.

The engine was installed in 2004, a re conditioned Yanmar 28 hp 3 cyl which gives Musichana 5 knots plus on about 2lts per hour.She also has an Avon rib dinghy and Suzuki 2.2hp.

Her materials are of east african mahogany frames and bambacofi plank, deck 1 1/2 and hull 1 1/4 , The hull is copper fastened, and in excellent condition. Over the last 5 years the 70 % of the deck has been replaced and all bulwarks using takien tong wood then recently sheathed in fiberglass.

A large cockpit is covered by a new shade awning, side covers and dodger. Her internal volume is uncluttered , open and has a wonderful timber yacht feel. She perfroms well under sail and is a proven well constructed yacht.
