The Ocean Alexander 43 Aft Cabin Long Range
Cruiser quickly gained a reputation as one the
better-quality Asian trawler-style imports of the
early 1980s. Along with the earlier 50
Pilothouse, she did much to establish the Ocean
Alexander name in the minds of brokers and
dealers. Unlike most Taiwan trawlers of the early
80's, the 43 is relatively free of exterior teak�a
big plus in the minds of most owners. Inside,
the all-teak interior is arranged with a centerline
queen berth in the full-width aft stateroom and
stall showers in both heads. The galley is down,
and the salon dimensions are very adequate.
Note the port and starboard deck doors.
Visibility from the lower helm is excellent.
Additional features include simulated lapstrake
hullsides, a roomy flybridge with the helm
forward, and a long keel of sufficient depth to
offer some protection to the running gear in the
event of a grounding. If you are in the market
for a comfortable live-aboard cruiser in
absolutely top shape, this trawler is a cut above
the rest of the market. This is a rare find among
the trawler fleet because it is in top condition,
comfortable to live aboard and well equipped. A
popular model during (and after) her production
years, twin Perkins diesel inboards will cruise the
Sundeck at 11 knots and top out at around 15
knots.
