General Description

The Bowman 47 is a cutter rigged, centre cockpit sailing sloop that presents well due to extensive refitting from 2003 up to now. The beautiful lines of this boat come from the design of Holman and Pye in London who are famous for designing many Oyster yachts.

This 47 has been set up for short handed world cruising and her fantastic specifications will allow for this in comfort and safety.

Down below is a classic teak interior with insulated cabin roof. The decks have been repainted in 2007 and are made of solid fiberglass, not cored with ply or foam. The double aft cabin with ensuite can be accessed either from the centre cockpit or through a stoop way from the main saloon. The great sea galley has enormous refrigeration and adequate bench space. The saloon has a fantastic varnished table and seating for a party of 9 should there be the need. A nice feature is the forward facing hatch that allows for great flow-through ventilation in the saloon. Forward of the saloon is the nav station to port, to starboard is the twin bunk cabin, then just forward is the double V berth. The generous space in the main shower and head is also a good feature of this yacht.

On the transom is a targa arch made of tubed stainless steel that houses the solar panels which provide shade for the aft seating and table on the push pit. The centre cockpit has a large storage locker underneath the seating and is capable of carrying extra fuel, water ( to add to the 900 litres in tanks) or even adding a genset . Not only is this a great place to helm the boat from it is fully covered by a large bimni which is collapsible and not forgetting the mandatory spray dodger. This vessel can be controlled from the cock pit which is convenient and adds to the safety for short handed sailors.
