She has been used primarily in fresh water throughout her limited use and kept indoors in a heated garage. All Scarabs were designed by Wellcraft to push up your heart rate before you even touch the ignition key. Ultimately, this 33 does what all Scarabs do well ??? blast you along the water faster than the faint of heart would dare go. Similar to both the Wellcraft 43 and 38 Scarabs, this 33 AVS has a hull that is a product of computer-age tweaking. The letters ''AVS'' stand for aft-vented step ??? in other words, this is a 2 step-hull boat, with the steps venting pressure out of the aft area of the boat. The 33 Scarab AVS is a fast-as-lightning, smooth-running, tight-turning performance boat, just like the Scarabs of years past. The test boat, equipped with twin 415hp Mercruiser 502 MPI engines planes in a jack-rabbit-quick 4.0 seconds. Top speed on the 33 AVS is a white-hot 76 mph. Racing along on a wind-swept spring day, the 33 AVS delivers the same kind of hot performance anyone familiar with the Scarab line would expect. It parts waves nicely without putting any of the wet stuff in the cockpit and, needless to say, blurs out everything around the boat as it races along like the latest offering from NASA. As stated before, the condition of this boat and it's 2002 Load Rite trailer is incredible.
