And now for something different in the world of
powerboats, an affordable 34-foot catamaran
trawler with terrific styling, outstanding economy
and a stable handling even in rough sea
conditions. The PDQ 34 is built in Canada and
she's a great choice for cruising enthusiasts
looking for an alternative to the traditional
monohull trawler. This is a roomy design--
indeed, there's more usable living space in the
PDQ than one expects in a 34-foot boat. Her
two-stateroom layout allows for a huge salon
with a U-shaped lounge on the centerline and an
elevated lower helm aft. The galley is down in
the portside hull (the head is forward in the
opposite hull) both staterooms are aft and
extend from the hulls under the aft deck. If the
staterooms are compact, the salon dimensions
are extravagant for a boat this size. Additional
features include broad, safe decks for lounging
and line-handling, a roomy flybridge, protected
running gear, and quality, vacuum-bagged
construction. Twin 75-hp Yanmar inboard
diesels will cruise at a steady 13-14 knots--
burning only 4 gallons per hour--and top out at
just under 20 knots.
