General Description

DESIGN BACKGROUND
Conceived by Nigel Irens, a world
leader in high-performance multi-hull yacht
design, Adventurer is an iLAN 35 Class, wave-piercing
stabilised monohull. She was specified for all-weather
blue water cruising and passage making and has purposely
been fitted out in a very functional way to allow easy maintenance
on all ship's systems.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Built to Det Norske Veritas 1A1 Yacht
classification and maintained in class, the
vessel was specified with the new MCA Megayacht
code of practice clearly in view. Adventurer is simply
constructed in e-glass and foam sandwich with wide use of
â��scrimp' in the soles and structural transverse members and
integral bunker and fresh water tanks. The yacht derives her world
girdling performance from twin Cummins C-series, 8.3 litre turbo-
diesels, each delivering 350hp via Twin Disc gearboxes to contra-rotating,
4-bladed bronze propellers. Capable of 24 knots light ship, Adventurer can
cruise at 18-20 knots and averaged 16.9 knots over the 25,000 mile global
circumnavigation passage with a range of better than 3000 nautical miles.

COMMUNICATION & NAVIGATION
As might be expected of a vessel
specified to circumnavigate the globe,
Adventurer comes equipped with two Raytheon
radars and integrated navigation system, interfaced
with an Anschutze gyro-compass, Fugro SeaStar Differential
GPS, Transas electronic chart portfolio and Vistar night vision
system. Communication equipment includes Inmarsat Satcom â��C'
(Trimble), â��M' (STN Atlas) and marine â��Mini-M' (Nera) terminals to
accommodate e-mail and telefax, Furuno SSB radio and Navico VHF
