The name, "Natural Selection" was chosen by the owners after extensively researching a wide variety of cruising vessels. When it came down to the fact that the Valiant 42 was the perfect boat for their needs, the name seemed to follow automatically, as it was exactly what they wanted to fulfill their cruising plans.

After being the "Showboat" for Valiant at the St. Petersburg boat show in the fall of 1997, they spent two years cruising in Florida and the Bahamas.
