offshore center consoles, the handsome Intrepid
289 stands apart for her quality high-tech
construction and high-performance stepped hull
design--twin features that have placed Intrepid
at the forefront of modern fishing boat
manufacturers. Vaccum bagged PVC core
construction and a Kevlar-reinforced glass
laminate make the 289 a stong and relatively
lightweight boat for her size, and her stepped
hull goes a long way toward reducing drag,
particularly at higher speeds. While the deck
layout is fairly straightforward--storage boxes, a
large in-deck fish box, transom livewell, and a
well-arranged helm--the head compartment is
at the bow rather than concealed in the console
as with so many other center consoles this size.
Additional features include recessed oil fills,
anchor locker, macerator for the fish box, trim
tabs, dive platform and boarding ladder. A good
selling boat, twin 225-hp Yamaha OX66 2-
STROKE outboards will
cruise the Intrepid 289 easily at 30 knots and
reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 46
knots
